Smell of the East

Lindsay Liang is a New York-based freelance multimedia artist and neurobiology researcher whose work bridges art, science, and memory. Growing up as a Pacific Islander, she employs music, sculpture, and painting to explore the erosion and preservation of intangible heritage. Her practice fuses traditional East Asian techniques with contemporary multimedia expressions, reflecting the fluidity of culture in an ever-evolving world.
Renowned for her vibrant and immersive creations, Lindsay dissects the microstates of consciousness, examining the intricate interplay between individuals, their identities, and the natural world. Drawing from her pioneering research in neuroscience, she integrates dream studies and psychological theories with neo-mystical painting, crafting visual narratives that transcend temporal and spatial boundaries. Her works have been exhibited at New York Fashion Week, Rosenberg Gallery, 248 McKibbin Gallery, among others.
For Lindsay, art is more than a medium—it is a vessel for the unseen, the forgotten, the dreamt. Each piece is an imprint of memory, a fragment of time suspended in color, awaiting rediscovery.
