Our Dear, Gaudy Lil’ Beavers,
We hope you’ll enjoy this issue with a four loko in a martini glass, wearing thrifted bedazzled ed hardy, as you cut straight to the front of whatever lines life makes you wait in. Find the tackiest and most tasteless spot to read this beautiful dumpster fire of an issue! We hope you find pleasure and hairy chests of treasure in this collection of the world’s most jaw dropping, blindingly shiny mini issue.
Poetry, prose & art do not need to follow any rigid conventions, art is for so many things… but not boring! We’re here to show you that raunchy, unconventional, honest work can blend seamlessly with elegance and beauty. We hope this issue will make you want to create art of your own, art with no regards for anyone else’s expectations.
Since our founding a little over two years ago, Beaver Magazine has been run by three poetry best friends who met in undergrad, Ellery Beck, Haley Winans and Adam Weeks. Our lovely co-editor, Adam Weeks, has recently become the best teacher to second graders and for the time being, he’ll be stepping back from the mag to focus on his work and education. Thank you SO much Adam, for everything. We’re so grateful to have built this beautiful beaver baby with you, and we promise to take good care of it. Everyone say “we love you Adam!!!!!!!!”
We can’t wait to continue to bring you the dam best poetry, prose & art from all around the world’s wonderful waterways. We’ve got lots of exciting updates coming soon, especially in regards to our anthology release. Stay tuned, especially to The Dam Blog!
Sending you so much love it’s cringey,
Ellery & Haley
