From the Editors

Dear beautiful bookworm beavers of the world,

We welcome you with droves of doves and badgers with really firm, admirable handshakes into the lush canopy of our sixth issue. Thank you for returning to our dam again and again in hopes of finding peace or blissful chaos in our contributors’ river-snaking brains. We received so many gorgeous art and writing submissions this period that we couldn’t resist jampacking yet another issue like a loaded baked potato.

This issue is a walk-through gallery with beautiful poetics blaring on the worn museum headsets, guiding you through experiential archives with lullabic purrs. Contributors will feed you feasts of meditative solitude in diners and forests, a jazz-loving hopeless romantic dolphin, a ghost roaming the dark corridors of self, nostalgia for a time-slipping morning, a haunting cockroach, a bear trap brain, overcoming a ketchup obsession, and many more beautiful mindscapes that’ll reinvigorate your admiration of all the hot brains humming around you like pollen-caked bees making thick honey spitting fire flowering poetics and prose and brushstrokes in this gorgeous fucked up ecosystem of a world.

In these dark times, we are so grateful to have access to a plethora of people’s experiences, dreams, adversities, triumphs, griefs, visions, etc in reading submissions for this magazine. All of it takes us out of our motorcycle-growling hornet nest heads and plops us into new restorative thought processes or resolutions we could never conjure up alone.

Working for this magazine gets sweeter and sweeter every day. HONEYSUCKLE BUSH SWEET. Every time we read or see a weird bad-ass piece, we’re invigorated to keep writing and submitting our weird ass shit without fear, because our submitters keep doing themselves unapologetically in the most mind-bending, awe-filled ways that we’ve never seen or brainstormed before. This emo tangent is all to say, keep doing you, because the journals you want to be in are the ones that bear-hug and celebrate your work from the jump.

Submit to small and new presses please oh please beavers!!!! There are so many amazing magazines coming out with their first couple issues and absolutely tearing up the internet like tissue paper.

We never thought y’all would love us this much lmao. We are eternally grateful that you keep gnawing on this forest of expression with us. Thank you for believing in me, Adam, Ellery, and all our fabulous readers. Thank you for your continual trust in us with your work. Keep reading, keep writing, keep submitting.

But dear god, if you need to be on island time for a week or month or season, baby kick your feet up, brew some sun tea, shimmy dance with a random goat, smell every flower you see, pet lots of trees, do you. No one is on the same walking trail of life. Break out your gleaming mind machete and carve through whatever brain bramble you need to to get to the juicy blackberry bush of bliss. Blackberry blackberry blackberry someone cut me off, someone break out the extendo stage hook and coax me off this digital stage by shaking a bag of fresh kettlecorn like cat treats.

Anyways, to whoever is still reading this, we love you, you are a treasure chest filled with all the cutest coins and jewels and maps. We hope to see you in our Mariana Trench of submissions so we can read your work and cry doodlebob tears of joy mehoyminoy and crack ourselves open like oysters and find pearls we never knew existed.

*flight attendant voice over the intercom*

Please put on your fucking emotional seatbelts 20 minutes before this plane takes off and enjoy these gorgeous works from around the world.

With all our beaver love and light,

Haley, Ellery, and Adam
